Beaches

Between the endless blue of the Mediterranean Sea and a sunlit coastline, Palmanova and Magaluf have some of the loveliest stretches of coast in the south-west of Mallorca. There are long white-sand beaches, small coves with clear water and strikingly beautiful scenery, and you can enjoy the sea at your own pace: lying in the sun, trying a water activity, or simply letting the gentle waves carry you.

Each beach has its own character, from broad sweeps of sand with full facilities to small coves where the natural setting still has all its charm.

Many of them are accessible for people with reduced mobility, with wooden walkways, shaded areas, beach wheelchairs and accessible toilets, so that everybody can enjoy the sea in comfort and safety.

If you are after something more exciting, there are plenty of water activities to try with your family, your partner or friends. And if you’d rather switch off, there is always a cove where time seems to stand still and the Mediterranean Sea does the rest.

Es Carregador Beach

The calm water at es Carregador makes it a real haven. It sits on the Palmanova seafront between the Club Náutico and Punta Marroig, and the appeal is the deep turquoise of the sea and having everything you need just a few steps away. A lovely place for a relaxed swim, easy to reach and good for families.

Palmanova Beach

Palmanova beach is one of the best known on the Calvià coast. Its long stretch of fine sand runs between Punta Marroig and Punta Nadala and is made for a walk by the sea. The family atmosphere, the shade of the pines in summer and the quality of the facilities make it a perfect spot for a day on the beach.

Son Matias Beach

Fine sand, clear water and a seabed that shelves gently make Son Matias a good beach for all ages. It lies between Punta Nadala and the Torrenova peninsula, and the calm setting makes for easy, unhurried swimming.

Magaluf Beach

A broad sweep of sand with clusters of palm trees and sand dunes. The well-known islet of Sa Porrassa sits offshore in the middle. Clear water and a lively seafront of restaurants, beach clubs and terraces mean you can spend the day doing nothing at all, or experience the vibrancy of Mediterranean coastal life.

Son Caliu

A few minutes from the centre of Palmanova, Son Caliu is a cove for anyone after a bit of peace. Sand and rock together, with steps down into the water, make an intimate spot to enjoy the Mediterranean away from the crowds.

Cala Vinyes

Surrounded by thick Mediterranean pine woods and sheltered by low cliffs, Cala Vinyes keeps all the charm of a small Mallorcan cove. Golden sand, clear water and natural shade from the pines and palms make it a welcoming place to settle in for hours.

Caló de la Bella Dona

Tucked away in the greenery of Sol de Mallorca, Caló de la Bella Dona is one of those places that feels like a well-kept secret. You can get to it down a flight of steps, or by sea from Cala Vinyes or Cala Falcó. The natural setting and the quiet make it a perfect retreat for anyone wanting to switch off and enjoy nature at its most unspoilt.

Cala Falcó

Cala Falcó is a beautiful little cove, small and surrounded by pine woods. Rocky cliffs wrap around the cove and its clear water, while the shade of the trees is a welcome refuge on the hottest days. The sound of the sea, the smell of the pines and the quiet all around create an authentic Mediterranean experience.

Portals Vells

Known as some of the most spectacular beaches in Mallorca, the three coves at Portals Vells are striking for the deep turquoise of the water and the woodland around them. Hidden among the pines and reached by paths that open onto small paradises, Portals Vells I, Portals Vells II (El Mago) and Portals Vells III (Playa del Rey) offer breathtaking scenery. They are also good for anchoring, which makes them a favourite with anyone exploring the coast by boat.

Cala Aixada

Small, tucked away and rarely busy, Cala Aixada has an almost private feel. It sits in the residential area of Sol de Mallorca, and it is mostly locals and visitors after some peace who come here. Steps take you down into the water, in a place where the Mediterranean is at its calmest.
