There is a wide variety of international and national cuisine on offer at the restaurants in the area. The local Majorcan specialities are worth trying. Majorcan dry bread soup, snail stew, roast suckling pig, "tumbet" (a kind of ratatouille with aubergine and red pepper), fish stew, "trampo" (a tomato and green pepper salad), "frito mallorquín" (fried peppers, potato and offal), "arròs brut" (rice soup with meat), rabbit and onion stew, cocarrois, ensaimada and coca de verduras (traditional sweet and savoury pastries respectively) are some of the most typical, without forgetting the local meat products, the famous sobrasada and botifarrones being particularly of note. You can also try local wines from Binissalem, Pla de Llevant and other areas in the centre and northeast of the island.
